Maestro Gustavo Dudamel makes his house debut when Verdi's masterpiece Otello returns to Metropolitan Opera. In the title role we hear tenor Stuart Skelton, Sonya Yoncheva sings Desdemona and Zeljko Lucic sings Iago.

What is Otello about?
Based on the Shakespeare play, the story follows couple Otello, who is a venetian general and the governor of Cyprus, and his wife Desdemona. Iago, who is upset about Otellos umpcoming promotion sets up a plan to make Otello think that his wife is cheating on him with his newly promoted soldier, Cassio. This story of love, betrayal and revenge ends with Desdemona's murder and Otello's suicide - a plan well executed by Iago.
