With its world premiere at the Théâtre-Italien in Paris, I Puritani was written specifically for some of the best singers at the time.

I Puritani came to be Vincenzo Bellini's final work, and a big success thanks to the vocal abilities of the performers.

The opera has two acts and is sung in Italian with Met titles in English, German, Italian, and Spanish.
